Why corporate headshots are even more important post Covid-19

While the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic initially disproportionately affected the portrait photography industry, with the many changes in the way we work and live, now more than ever the industry is experiencing a resurgence. We’ve been inundated with calls from a range of individuals and larger corporate businesses, and we believe there are a few reasons corporate headshots are even more important post-Covid-19.

Reason No. 1.
First Impressions are Still King

You do really only get one opportunity to make a positive first impression, and in today’s digital age, this opportunity often presents itself when your customers visit your website.

No matter how well designed your website may be, nothing really engages visitors quite as effectively as professional headshots. Without multiple photos of people – employees, customers etc you run the risk of your marketing appearing stale, too corporate or lacking in personality.

In this post-pandemic digital age, a good headshot that is well-lit and professionally composed will establish a positive first impression with new customers, colleagues, and associates.  If you’re a business professional, you need at least one good quality headshot to use in a range of contexts – zoom calls, on-line platforms etc.

First impressions matter. Experts say we size up new people in somewhere between 30 seconds and two minutes.

Reason No. 2.
People are looking for connection.

Humanizing your brand with lifestyle professional branding photography is more powerful than ever.

In the wake of the 2020 global pandemic one of the most significant trends is the value of a personal or professional brand.  All industries learned to adapt, pivot and the pretty much everything moved online in 2020 – from remote working to grocery deliveries and everything in between.

We are social animals, and as such are inherently interested in social interactions and connections.  The vast majority of people would rather look at photos that quickly convey a narrative, story or important information rather than reading a detailed biography or large body of text.

  • Can I trust this person?
  • Can this person relate to me and my circumstances?
  • Is this person intelligent, professional, affable?

Have you ever noticed that every ad you’ve ever seen for Coca Cola, Nike and McDonalds include photos of happy people enjoying or endorsing their product – particularly when these companies are all selling a physical product?

Reason No. 3
Trust has become the cornerstone of business.

The most effective marketing is very specific about your product/service, process, and team.  Real photos and videos of your team are a great way to leverage this potential and to build trust.

There’s also a reason why all the top legal firms, most medical practices, and many other professions where trust is key always include quality corporate headshots on their website – employee photos make your brand appear more trustworthy and likeable.

So, if you’re serious about building your business, invest in a good headshot today.
